What Manglik dosh actually means
Mars in one of six houses — 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 12 — counted from the Lagna, the Moon or Venus. That is the whole definition. The six are not arbitrary: the 7th is the house of the spouse, the 8th the longevity of the marriage, the 2nd the family one lives in, the 4th domestic peace, the 12th the private life, and the 1st the temperament one brings to a partnership.
Mars is the graha of heat, assertion and severance, so the classical texts read it in these six as a source of friction in the marital sphere — friction, which is a thing people manage every day, and not a sentence.
The reason two sites give two answers is the reference point. Count from the Lagna alone and you get one answer; from the Moon, another; from Venus, a third. None of the three is the "real" one. That is why this page shows all three and says how many agree.
What it is not
Four things Manglik dosh does not mean
- It is not a prediction that a marriage will fail. The texts that define the placement also define the cancellations, and the schools cannot agree on which reference even counts.
- It is not a judgement on anybody as a partner. Nothing about this placement speaks to character, and it is worth saying because that is exactly how the word gets used at home.
- It is not rare. Mars occupies six of twelve houses from any given reference, so a large share of every population is Manglik under one count or another. A finding that applies to a substantial fraction of everyone is not a diagnosis.
- It is not the end of a match. The commonest cancellation is simply that the other chart carries it too, and the second commonest is Jupiter.

Is Manglik dosh real?
It is a real, well-defined rule in the classical texts, and this page computes it exactly as those texts describe. Whether the rule predicts anything about a marriage is a question those texts cannot settle and neither can we. What we will not do is present a count as a forecast.
Two websites gave me two different answers. Which is right?
Probably both, counted differently. Most sites count from one reference point and print the result as a verdict. This page counts from all three and tells you how many agree, which is why its answer is a grade rather than a yes or a no.
Does Manglik dosh end at 28?
One tradition holds that Mars matures at 28 and that a marriage at or after that age falls outside the period when the placement is read as most active. It is one rule among several, not a switch, and this page shows it as one cancellation among the others.
What if only one of us is Manglik?
Then the both-charts cancellation does not apply, and what matters is which reference counts it, which house Mars is in, and whether Jupiter is involved. Run the pair through kundli matching, which does that cross-check properly.
Do I need my exact birth time?
For this one, yes. The Lagna reference changes sign roughly every two hours, so a guessed time can flip a third of the answer. If your time is only approximate the page says so on the Lagna row rather than counting it anyway.
