Vaishakha Shukla Tritiya, taken as madhyahna-vyapini: the tithi has to be present in the third fifth of the day. In 2026 the sunrise reading and the madhyahna reading fall on different dates, and madhyahna is the one the tradition uses.
The day is settled by the tithi at madhyahna, the third fifth of the day.
