Shatabhisha means "a hundred physicians" or "a hundred stars", and its symbol is an empty circle; its deity is Varuna, keeper of cosmic waters and law. Rahu rules it, giving an unconventional, boundary-crossing, sometimes eccentric mind. Shatabhisha can be stubborn, aloof, emotionally withholding, and so independent that it refuses the help and closeness it needs. Rahu can make it restless, contrarian, or drawn to escape, and its reserve can read to others as coldness it does not intend. The work is to let people in — to share the mysteries it guards, to accept care, and to use its healing gift on its own solitude as well as on the world’s hidden faults.

Tradition associates Shatabhisha with hidden, healing and technical work: medicine and research, technology and engineering, astrology and the occult, science, any solitary or reformist field. These people do well where independence and insight into the concealed are assets, and where being left alone to work is a gift rather than a punishment. In relationships they are loyal but private and reserved, and the growth edge is openness — letting the people they trust past the circle they keep drawn around themselves.
