Rohini Nakshatra

Rohini is where things take root and flourish. Ruled by the Moon, with the creator Brahma as its deity, it is the nakshatra of growth, beauty and fertile attraction.

Nature

The nature of this nakshatra

People with the Moon here have a natural charm and sensuousness. They are pleasant to be around, drawn to comfort, art, food, and the material goods of life, and they draw others toward them without trying. Brahma’s creative rulership gives real productive power: they make things grow, whether gardens, businesses or families. There is a fixed, earthy steadiness under the softness. Rohini knows what it wants and settles in, and once its affections and its roots are set they are very hard to move.

Strengths

Where it is strong

Rohini’s strength is fertile stability. It is one of the most creative and materially capable placements, good at building lasting things and at making them beautiful. The charm is genuine and opens doors; people trust and like Rohini quickly. It has patience the fire nakshatrasThe star the Moon is passing through. Aesthetic taste is refined, and there is a gift for turning resources into abundance.

Watch-outs

What to watch for

The love of comfort can become attachment, and attachment can become possessiveness of people, status and things. Rohini can be materialistic, stubborn once settled, and quietly resentful when it does not get the admiration it feels it has earned, and it can indulge itself past what is good for it. The magnetism can be used to manipulate. The work is to hold beauty and comfort lightly, to stay generous rather than grasping, and to accept change in the things it has grown fond of.

Work and relationships

Career and relationships

Tradition associates Rohini with work in beauty, growth and the material world: agriculture and food, the arts and design, finance and luxury goods, hospitality, anything that cultivates and refines. These people prosper where taste and patience are rewarded, and they often have a real gift for making money and making things pleasant at the same time. In relationships they are affectionate, loyal and sensual. Possessiveness is what they have to grow out of: loving without clutching, and letting the people they cherish grow in their own direction.

How this page is worked out

The ruling graha, rashi span, dasha length and the four padas are the classical attributes of Rohini, computed from its position on the sidereal wheel with Lahiri ayanamsa. The written character is offered for reflection, drawn from the tradition’s significations — not a prediction about any individual life.
